Overview

Meditation has been practiced for thousands of years. Meditation was originally intended to help deepen the understanding of the sacred and mystical life forces. These days, meditation is commonly used to relax and reduce stress.

Meditation is a type of complementary medicine for the mind and body. Meditation can produce a deep relaxation state and a feeling of peace. It can relieve the stress you have been suffering from throughout the day, and bring you inner peace. Learn how to easily practice meditation when you need it most.

If stress makes you, or anxious, agitated, or nervous think of meditating. Spending a few minutes meditating may help you regain inner peace and calm.

What is the importance of meditation?

Meditation puts down a great foundation to success. It prepares mental soil for the seeds of abundance (if you decide so). Meditation allows you to do away with negative thinking and get rid of damaging emotions from your mind. I’m not precisely sure why that occurs, but it may be because, with the practice of meditation, you get into a lower frequency of brain activity. In that state, the cleansing process may take place.

The effects of meditation

Generating positive thoughts

After meditating one time, you will not do away with all negative thoughts. But, with continuous meditation, you will progress to such a state.

You will notice that following meditation, you feel peaceful. There are no thoughts circling in your brain and you feel harmony within. I may describe this feeling as if you have been protected from adverse thoughts, events, and additional damaging occurrences. You feel calm and good.

Occasionally, you will get into deep meditation. You will get so disengaged from your brain that you will get aligned with the world around you and that will help you get a flush of awesome ideas.

That can happen to you so frequently as you have been meditating for a while. You start to generate awesome ideas and achieve those ‘wow’ moments where you won’t believe that you have become aware of such astonishing thoughts.

Getting rid of negative thoughts

Just after you start implementing this personal development principle, you will be less stressed, and eventually, you won’t get strained at all. Damaging events will not affect you so much because you will care less about them. Your chief concentration will be on issues that are great and valuable.

You will start feeling delight for no apparent reason. You will find yourself in the moments of perfect peace and satisfaction. It will appear that nothing is wrong with this creation and that you are the happiest individual in the world.

This is a miraculous state that meditation creates. Such a state should be a natural state for everyone. But for most people, this state is out of the question to get into because of all their negative thinking.

Becoming more conscious of yourself and the world

With the continuous practice of meditation, your intuition will increase. You will get stronger feelings from inside urging you to take some action. You should never brush off such signs as they will just help you to accomplish more and become a better individual.

You will understand what foods are great for you and what foods are not. Naturally, this will not come very soon. It might take some time, around two- six months of meditation. You might stop eating some foods such as meat. That’s because your body tells you that you’ve been polluting yourself with the food you don’t require.

The most important change that you will go through is clear thinking. Because there are no damaging thoughts in your mind. You will start seeing a clear-cut picture of any given situation. You will understand precisely what to do and how to go about any given state of affairs.

Ways to practice meditation every day

Don’t let your attempt to think the “right” way be an extra burden on you. If you choose to meditate correctly, you can join meditation centers or a classes that have trained teachers. Yet, you can practice meditation easily in your own way.

You can practice meditation in the traditional way; i.e., a way that suits your lifestyle and situation. Meditation is part of some people’s daily lives. For example, they may practice one-hour of meditation at the beginning or end of the day. But what they really need is a few minutes of calm to meditate.

Below are some ways to practice meditation yourself whenever and wherever you want:

Breathe deeply

This method is good for beginners because breathing is a normal function.

Focus your attention entirely on breathing. Focus on feeling inhaled and exhaled through the nose and listen to them. Then breathe deeply and slowly. When your attention turns, gently turn your attention to your breathing.

Check your body

When using this method, focus attention on different parts of the body. Be aware of the various feelings of the body, whether it is pain, tension, warmth, or relaxation.

Combine body scan and breathing exercises and imagine breathing heat or relaxation within and outside the body.

Repeat the logo

You can create your logo, whether religious or mundane. Examples of religious slogans include Jesus’s prayer in Christian traditions, God’s holy name in Judaism, symbols, Hindu, Buddhist, and other Eastern religions.

Stroll and meditate

Combining walking with meditation is an effective and healthy way to relax. You can use this method anywhere you walk, such as walking in a quiet forest, on the city pier, or in a shopping mall.

When using this method, slow down the walking pace so you can focus on every movement of the legs or feet. Don’t focus on a particular destination. Focus on the legs and feet, repeating words that indicate movement in your mind such as “lift,” “move” and “position” at each foot lift; move your leg forward, and put your foot on the floor.

Engage in prayer

Supplication is the best-known example of meditation and the most practiced. Spoken and written prayer exists in most religious traditions.

You can pray with your own words or read invitations written by others. Check out the self-help section of your local book store to find examples. Talk to the clergy to inquire about possible resources.

Read and reflect

Many people say that they benefit from reading poems or sacred texts, and take a few moments to manage their meaning.

You can also listen to sacred songs, spoken prayers, or religious songs that you find quiet or inspiring. You may want to send your thoughts to a magazine or discuss them with an inspirational friend or leader.

Focus on feelings of love and gratitude

In this kind of meditation, focus your attention on an image or something sacred while weaving feelings of love, compassion, and gratitude within your thoughts. You can also close your eyes and use your imagination or stare at the image shape.
